They have held up extremely well, so far. I have the 36" because I am quite large. They are not miracle workers, if you step into a soft snowbank, you will go to the bottom. They do work quite well, and have stayed in good shape despite all the rocks, and logs I climb over. The metal traction teeth on the bottom of mine are steel, many are aluminum. Given my weight, I am glad they are steel. They grip well and have not been bent or deformed. My firned go a $54 set that threw snow all over himself, I did not have that issue. I'd like rachet bindings instead of the straps they chose for bindings because they did loosen after a while. He did not have that issue with his.
