## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a good choice for smoke detectors?**
A: It depends on whether your smoke detector is wired into the house wiring and the battery is just a backup, or if the battery is the only power source.  If the battery is a backup to household power, a standard heavy duty (Non-alkaline) is best and also much cheaper, but needs to be replaced yearly.  If the battery is the only power source, an alkaline battery like this is a good choice.  Smoke detectors that are household wired and use the battery as a backup need a higher peak voltage to keep them from the occasional chirp sound that drives my dog crazy.  A fresh/new heavy duty (non-alkaline) battery puts out over 10 volts and will easily last a year onder the light load of a smoke detector.  A fresh/new alkaline battery will only put out about 9.4 - 9.5 volts, but it will handle a greater load for a longer time.  My house wired smoke detectors start chirping at just under 9.4 volts, so my dog hates it if I use alkaline batteries in them.

**Q: Anybody know the mah rating of these?**

**Q: Any difference between QUANTUM and PROCELL?**
A: Not that I can tell.

**Q: what is the expiry date**
A: The batteries I purchased in 1/2015 have a 3/2019 expiration date.  It all depends on what seller you use.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Holds up in heavy duty use (heat, outdoors, long day etc) and in both home/work environment. Long time happy users!

First, important to note that there is likely some variation with some users experiences due to the source - different stock has different expiration date/ages, some may actually not be authentic, and some may have some other factor rendering them less than able to perform well. Make sure you always buy from a reputable seller, of course Amazon directly but if not from an authorized dealer or someone with a great history. Otherwise it is possible you may get poor quality ones or fakes etc. That being said - we have been buying these Procells (not just 9V, all the sizes of the Procell line) for many years now and have been consistently pleased with their performance. They are used in both home and work environments and with some being put to the test (10+ hours of consistent use, very hot outside weather environment and so on) and have had nothing but a great turnout with all of them. Pricing is slightly higher but they are somewhat easy to find from both Amazon and other SBA and similar sellers at a lower cost - however - worth every penny even if you're paying a premium. I believe the lowest we have paid for this box of $12 was around a dollar a battery, and the normal price looks to be around $15 which again is totally worth the little extra over some other brands. We will continue to buy the Procell line but definitely sticking to sold by Amazon just to make sure what we are getting is real and fresh :) Also, just to note - the thumbnail here shows the old red and black box, we got (5/2016) the new yellow/black box.
