Review: Amazing Headset??? I Think So!!! - For Starters...I LOVE this headset. Previously I used a Turtle Beach X11 that I bought new in 2010. It was a great headset for my Xbox360 and even though I had put it through its paces and some unneeded abuse, it served me well. I only replaced it because it had a very annoying humming sound all the time that developed in its later year or so. So I set off on my search for the optimal headset that didn't sacrifice comfort for functionality. I started with the Turtle Beach brand since I had enjoyed my last pair a lot. After sorting through the various price points and features I had found a couple that I had liked. Now just before I sold my Xbox I had purchased a pair of Turtle Beach X32 and was less than pleased. For a wireless headset, it ate batteries every time I blinked, and the headset itself squeezed my head to the point I would get headaches after 20-30 minutes of use. So as I found a couple of TB headsets I like the look and features of I set off to Google and YouTube for reviews. After watching several reviews and reading a lot of forums I began to see a common trend in these new TB headsets...they all squeezed your head. Having seen all that information I wrote off TB from my list of headsets and set off to find the next latest and greatest. This brings me to my next point, you know, the one you've been waiting to hear. I did a lot of Google searching over several days on comparable headsets to the TB headsets I had liked. I also, just for reference, search the best/top gaming headsets for PC to get a feel where each headset I could afford fell in the rankings. All these search lead to me Logitech. Now Logitech has been a main contender in the gaming market for a while and in general for longer than that, so I was not surprised to see a lot of god feedback coming from customers. I too was a Logitech user, a steering wheel that I absolutely love because of its craftsmanship and overall quality. So I began to narrow my field down to around $100 and see what I could get in the price range. I started comparing various Logitech headsets against each other and other brands. 9 out of 10 times, the Logitech headset came out on top. So Logitech it was...but which one, the g430, the g35, or the wireless g930? So I simply compared them against each other and almost every review I read had the g930 coming out on top unless wireless was not your style then the g35 was the victor. Being a fan of a non-cluttered desk and being very anal retentive about my cable management I dug into the reviews both text and YouTube, for the g930. Was the mic quality good? Did they feel comfortable on my head? How about the batteries, did they last? Everything I found was positive so I ordered them...then canceled my order, reviewed another few vids and reordered them...yes, I had second thoughts not 5 minutes after I ordered them the first time. Thanks to my Prime membership and a stroke of good luck, they arrived the next day, and I didn't pay for overnight shipping!!!! I'm impatient and love to test my new toys as soon as I get them, so I wasted no time setting them up for use. The packaging itself was great, they call it frustration free packaging. None of that heat pressed plastic garbage, cut a couple pieces of tape and slid everything right out. Plugged the sweet USB/charging hub into my computer and powered them on. The drivers self-installed and following the advise of several reviews, I downloaded the Gaming Software that allows you to make changes to the profiles. Now the sound test, I slapped on Spotify and cranked out the tunes. They sounded great! So onto a game to test the surround. So I wasn't very pleased with the surround, everyone talking sounded like they were talking into a tin can, and overall the sound quality wasn't that great, but flip it back to stereo and everything sounded amazing. So how long would this battery last? Well out of the box I got about 2 hours out of it before I had to charge them...but I was in the middle of a gaming session with my friends. No worries, the play and charge feature worked flawlessly. With the headset plugged in, it felt like a typical wired headset thanks to the angled charging cord that pushed the bulk of the cable out away from my head. In about 3 hours, while still using them heavily, I was fully charged and ready to ditch the cable. So how long did the battery last? Well, playing games, talking to my friends in a chat service and streaming music all at once, I got about 5-6 hours out of it. So it was a little short of the 10 hours Logitech claims but I also had a lot of sounds and there time frame even says "Up To 10 Hours" depending on what you're doing. So the mic? Well I asked my friends how I sounded and they said fine, so I recorded myself a little message and played it back, sounded just fine. One thing I loved about my TB headsets was the voice monitoring, which kept me from getting noiseless syndrome, when your yell into a mic because you can't hear how loud you are talking. So how would this work for the g930? Easy, remember the gaming software I mentioned earlier? You simply turn up the side tone volume on the sound menu to your desired level and you can hear yourself so you don't scream. Well If you made it this far you are obviously genuinely interested in my opinion on this headset so I suppose I will now spill the beans. I am in love with this headset. The fit, the form, the build quality, sound quality, overall use friendliness of them is great. Sure the software could use some tweaking but we're not hear to discuss software. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, if you are looking for a great wireless or even just a great headset around $100, then I would strongly recommend these. Plus with Logitech's 3 year limited warranty, you have 3 years for any defects to surface and they will fix them. I hope this review has helped you make a decision on your headset.
Review: "Expensive Wireless Wired Headset from Logitech!!" - OK. This headset is literally the worst purchase I have made towards my computer since I bought it. I had researched headsets for a very long time when trying to find a new one to use. I previously had a wireless stereo headset designed for the PS3 that I bought somewhere about 3-4 years ago. Best headset I ever bought. They were tough, reliable, and had reasonably good sound quality (not as good as the G930s though). But this review is not about the headset I bought 4 years ago. The G930s looked promising and I have two friends that also own these headphones. The 7.1 surround sound looked very cool and considering all the other products that I have owned from Logitech (mainly mice and one keyboard) I was hopeful. Got the headphones and was incredibly excited to have some nice quality headphones only to realize I got cheaply made horse crap that lasted just under two months. Pros: .The headphones are incredibly comfortable, I could game for quite a few hours before finding myself having to take them off. .They block out sound very well .The NORMAL sound from them is pretty incredible, not the 7.1 feature. It'll be covered in the cons area. .Cool feature with the boom-mic where it auto-mutes when it is raised up. Cons: (HOLY HELL HERE WE GO) .The Logitech Gaming Software is an abysmal excuse for a "driver program". It is literally worthless, with the exception that you can only turn on 7.1 surround sound when the software is installed and running. Which is still pointless. I had some issues with my computer at one point during these 2 months where some memory got corrupted or something. I had to update a few drivers for my motherboard etc restart the computer a few times, when suddenly I realized that my headset was not working anymore. No sound at all. The mic was being picked up because my friends over skype could still hear me. So something weird was going on. I spent three days not being able to play with my friends because I was stuck with no sound trying to figure out what to do to fix the issue. I have no idea what messed the headset up but the only fix that I could find was to completely uninstall the Logitech Gaming Software. (which isn't a big deal considering the software is 100% worthless to begin with.) So basically the software that is supposed to make the headset work and have more functionality is what broke them for a couple of days. Good job Logitech. .For the first few weeks the headset was constantly cutting itself off, forums stated that it is because they might almost be dead etc. where the aforementioned gaming software told me they had 10 hours of life left. I felt reason to believe that the headset was not almost dead considering I had them charging most of the day while I was out working. One solution I found was to leave them plugged in charging while I used them, effectively making them what I will call them from now on, the "Expensive Wireless Wired Headset by Logitech". I finally found a permanent solution, go into the driver files and find the config for the G930s and change a setting called something like "battery_power_off_interval 900" and change it to "battery_power_off_interval 0". In all honesty the pure stupidity of this line of config even existing makes me feel like I have lost brain cells so I will not comment on it. Hopefully you the reader will understand why that is so stupid. .The 7.1 surround sound is a joke. I don't know all the gizmos and gadgets and tech behind how the surround sound is supposed to work. All I know is that it only sounds like you are in an empty wooden room with sounds echoing off the walls. This in my opinion is not "surround sound" but hell what do I know. If you want to experience the "7.1 Surround Sound" feature of this headset just buy like two or three speakers and an empty wooden room and play music/ sounds from them from your phone. BOOM $80 worth of 7.1 surround sound. .The mic boom broke near the end of the second month. From what? I don't know. It seems that a screw or something broke and it doesn't hold itself in the up position anymore, which is sad because that for me was one of the coolest features. I wasnt that distraught over it though I was planning on just seeing if I could fix it myself and tighten said loose screw. That is, until the mic stop working completely. About 2 days after the mic boom broke, the mic stopped working. So I'm guessing there was something more wrong than just a simple loosened screw. The only thing I can even conceive that might have broken it is occasionally when going to the bathroom I would lightly toss the headset with the mic boom in the up position onto my bed from less than 1 foot away. The max airtime they might have had would have been 0.5 seconds. If this light toss onto a pillow-top mattress broke the headset then they definitely were not built to be sold as an $80 headset. This sorry excuse for Chinese engineering leads me to believe that all of Logitech's microphones are made from delicate baby tears and toenails. Simply put without the sarcasm. If the headset broke from this light tossing they were built with absolutely awful quality materials. Summary: This headset is not worth $80, the "feature adding Logitech Gaming Software" is useless and a pile of garbage, the software was also programmed with the most ignorant config setting that I have ever heard of, the quality of the material it is built out of is trash, the auto-muting mic boom is really cool though. Basically do not buy these headphones unless they are lowered to a price more worthy of their build quality, something like $15 sounds fair. Sorry Logitech you dropped a ball bigger than the craps I get from my local Mexican restaurant. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Maybe Razer will have something worth the money.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this headset be used while charging?**
A: YES. I have had this headset for a little over 3 years now. Most days I end up using the headset with a 10 foot USB cable plugged in because I always forget to plug it in at night. After over 3 years of use and having it frequently plugged in while in use I have not had a single problem with it.

**Q: Some headset will press my ears against the glasses, this makes my ears hurt after wearing for awhile. Is it comfortable to wear it with glasses?**
A: I have thick frame hipster glasses. Doesn't hurt bother me comfort wise while playing. However I will say the fake leather / pleather they use on the ear cushions will squeak any time you move your head at all. Even tiny movements will make it squeak. Imagine rubbing a balloon against a leather couch but basically in your ear. It's not so loud/noticeable that you'll go crazy or can't use them, especially since you can just try to remain still. I imagine some people could put up with it and just ignore it, others might be very put off by the noise. After googling a bit, I found someone recommending some 3rd party replacement ear cushions made of fabric. See here: http://goo.gl/jb4XU2 Supposedly they fit the same and the fabric means no noise. I just ordered them today, figured I'd share the knowledge. Will report back if they did not work. Now if I could just get the 7.1 working in DayZ Standalone, I'd be 100% in love with these headphones.

**Q: does it work with mac?**
A: The headset will work on Mac. However, you can't have the 7.1 software on your Mac, and therefore, you can't have 7.1 in your headset. Stereo and mic will work just fine, though.

**Q: Anyone use these with Google talk? If so, how's the microphone quality? I get tired of people saying what? can't hear you. Noisy/scratchy background, etc. I would like to make works call on them.**
A: Sound quality is quiet good, especially for a headset. You can get stand alone microphones with better quality but for a headset the microphone is quiet good.I don't get any background noise, NO scratching or hum. I use it quiet often for gaming and Skype calls, works perfectly. The "G-Keys" allow you to assign a push to talk or any sort of macro keys.Let me know if you have any other questions. Please give me feedback, thanks!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best of what's out there.
*by S***H on September 12, 2012*

I work from home. I write for a living. I spend ALL day every day at the computer writing -- and my favorite way to relax at home is playing games. While I cringe to admit it, it's fair to say that I might spend more time with these headphones on my head on a given day than I spend with them off. If anybody has stress-tested these things...it's me. This is my second pair of G930s, and before I bought the G930s, I had the G35s, which are essentially just the wired version. They aren't without problems. My first pair went into the trash when the plastic fitting at the top of the ear cup on the left side -- into which the metal size adjustment rail is slotted -- simply broke. The plastic had gotten tired with time (and my taking the headphones on and off), and shattered in such a way that it would have been impossible to fix it without a lot of tape. Tape + proximity to my hair = no thanks. Aside from that structural failure, the headphones were fine; they still sounded great, and the mic worked perfectly. (Prior to buying logitech headphones, I had a pair of Razer headphones, and they also broke at the top of the ear cup, so I don't think that this is a problem exclusive to the G930s -- I think anything you take on and off of your head repeatedly, with swiveling plastic parts that can be torqued, is at some risk of breaking eventually.) This second pair of headphones has lost tension on the microphone arm -- whatever mechanism inside allowed it to have tension to raise and lower in different positions is no longer situated properly, so the mic sags. I've rigged it by tucking a bit of folded paper behind the 'elbow' of the mic where it joins the cup, but needless to say, it isn't ideal. Aside from that, the headphones work properly. Both headphones have had some weird issues with turning on and off when plugged in. This is an issue mainly when used with windows, as the headphones will automatically turn off after a certain length of time if they receive no incoming sounds (or possibly any input on the mic). When that happens, I find it easiest to unplug the headset, turn it back on, and then plug it back in. Obviously, I liked these enough to buy a second pair despite the price tag and minor issues. For my purposes, they're a great fit: they're comfortable to wear for long periods of time; they sit comfortably around my ears rather than pressing on them. They're a little bit heavy, but most headphones of this size will have some weight -- and whatever battery these have in them usually gives me eight or more continuous hours of use before I have to plug them in (which isn't a huge inconvenience, because the charging station and cord are fairly lengthy). The 7.1 is really well done, with a what feels to me like an expansive soundstage that's *great* for gaming -- I never have trouble pinpointing where in the 3D space a certain sound is coming from. The mic is good...almost too sensitive, as sometimes the people I'm in vent with will tell me that the sound of my sink running sounds like a garbage disposal! Generally, though, they say the quality of output is clear and solid. The programmable keys on the side are pretty useful, though I wouldn't mind if the driver software were updated to include other programs like Skype or Mumble. A few last points: sometimes, USB headphones, particularly surround sound USB headphones, do not get along with certain game titles. There can be weird static, dropped sounds, or other shenanigans, and though this is really rare, it's pretty frustrating if, like me, you rely on the headphones entirely for sound (living as I do in an apartment with neighbors who probably wouldn't appreciate listening to virtual gunfire late in the evening). Occasionally, the driver software will decrease the mic volume on its own, or scroll the headset volume downward, without being told to. Little problems like this are usually easily fixed by unplugging the USB receiver and plugging it back in to refresh the device (and then turning the headset on fresh afterward). None of these are dealbreakers. I'll admit I've done a little bit of research on other wireless gaming headsets in light of these little nagging issues, but I have yet to find one that offered me the same utility and sound quality as this pair of headphones does. If you're willing to deal with a wired connection, I think there are probably better deals out there...but if you're looking for a set of excellent wireless headphones, I think as of the writing of this review, you can't really do any better than the G930s.
