Great discreet little device - The volume control box is very easy to setup with just a 3.5mm. jack input and output socket. I have used it to control the headphone output from a radio to my headphones. I have set the volume box to maximum, then set the radio volume to the loudest I would want, then control the actual volume by turning the knob down on the volume box. The control is simple, nicely damped and noiseless in operation. Turning the control down to zero kills the sound completely. There is also a very linear increase as I turn the volume up. no sudden jumps ... All very satisfactory. I was not sure how the circuit worked and wondered if the output impedance loading on the radio would be negatively affected with the volume turned right down. Still not sure about this, but there appears to be no ill effects so far. Very nice, well built volume box. In a perfect world, it would have benefited from a notched potentiometer, so that I could count the indents for my settings, but, you know, this is just fine. Thank-you to the pair of hands that made this! I'm really enjoying the extra convenience, now glued to my bedpost. Hand made in Canada ... The Volbox can be connected to the headphone jack on your PC speakers, or it can also be plugged into the back of the PC. Either way will work, so it depends on what is easier for you. **Q: how can I get a belt clip for this?** A: Hello Engineer's opinion, thank you for your question. One way to add a pocket clip to the Volbox would be to get one and use epoxy or another strong glue to attach the clip to the back of the box. Another way would be to get a pocket clip and screw it on to the back of the case. Because the back of the case can be removed (it has two screws), this makes drilling a couple holes for a pocket clip through it easier. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Have a good day **Q: I have line level out on my recording device I want to input to Android smartphone. Will this attenuate line level to mic level?** A: Hello John! There is no standard for a line level signal, so some will be louder than others. But speaking in general, I think there is a pretty good chance that if you pass the line level output from your recording device through the Volbox and then into your smartphone, that the Volbox will be able to reduce the line level down to a low enough level that it will be basically the same as a mic level signal. If you plug a set of headphones into the line level jack of your recording device and find that the line level is at a medium to low volume level then I think the Volbox will work great. But if the line level is very loud through a set of headphones the chances would be lower. This control operates through the range smoothly maintaining stereo separation. The build quality is excellent and not cheap plastic material.
