Review: Exactly as advertised, but it does have its flaws... - This item was exactly what I had hoped for. It's really nothing but an emulator inside of a portable unit, but it works so well that I can't complain. It will play almost any Sega Genesis game file that you can put onto it (files must be in .bin format, though) and even some of the games it comes with are great, hard-to-find games (like the American version of Comix Zone). Of course, because it still is just an emulator, there are a few games that won't work on it at all but the vast majority of the Genesis library will play just fine on it. Just make sure to buy a regular SD card that is no bigger than 1GB if you want to add other games to it. Sound quality is not 100% perfect, but again it's a small unit and isn't totally flawless. Graphics look pretty good for a 16-bit handheld and are even pretty bright as well as backlit. Battery life is great and it comes with a USB wire to charge it. It can also be hooked up to a TV, but I haven't tried that yet as the unit doesn't come with the proper wire for that (any electronics store would have that wire, though). The overall feel of the unit as well as the controls are wonderful. The buttons feel similar to those of a real Genesis 6-button controller, but they respond a little better. Holding it, it feels very ergonomic (imagine a PSP with Genesis controls on it and you'll get the idea). Overall, it's a great deal for the money as long as this is exactly what you're looking for. Otherwise, I would say just to buy a PC game controller and just download any emulators/games that you want to your computer. However, if you want just a portable, all-in-one Genesis this is the only one I know of that is totally worth buying (especially for kids and people that are on long, boring car rides a lot).
Review: Best Sega Hand Held Ever!!!! - I ordered this unit on May 29th, received it yesterday June 1st. So great service from this seller! First of all this unit is much smaller and less bulky than my Sega Nomad. I am a security guard and sometimes need something to keep me awake on those special overnight details. This does the trick and takes up less space! Like some people have said some of the games sound is off from the original, but considering how many games you get to start with and how many more you can play with an SD card it is very forgiveable! The games themselves depending on the emulater, are very clear and crisp on the screen. I have put like 40 games on the SD card already and have not run out of space yet. So you get alot of games to play! Definately read the instructions when you get it. It is easy to put the games on the card, they have to be BIN files or they will not work. Then you have to name the SD card GAMES for the AT to read the card to play those games. But like I said all in the instructions. I am very pleased and can not stop playing the games! BAD HABBIT, MY FAULT NOT THE DEVICES!!!! LOL

### ⭐⭐⭐ Sega Genesis portable problems
*by O***N on January 3, 2013*

I purchased the last Sega Portable from @Games that had the cartridge slot. The cartridge would move slightly and freeze the game a lot. This latest new model with SD slot should be much more stable by using the SD cart instead. This feature could be the single reason to buy it. I got mine in the mail yesterday, but saw that they threw it over the patio instead of putting it in the mailbox. When I turned it on, I noticed that the small screen was bigger and better than last time. Charging the first time took much longer than 11 hours, more like 24 or more. Then, after it had been on for 20 mins, the battery started to die. Also, when playing the game, once the game buttons were pushed quickly during play, the unit froze up several times, reset, and the screen turned white a couple times. I'm not sure if it is because they threw the box or because these cheap game units usually have low quality. However, it may be the throw, because this one looks and feels sturdier and better than the previous attempt. The screen seems brighter and clearer. I tried the AV cable to the TV through a VCR and it did not work. . Looks like I set it up right but will experiment further. I definitely bought it more for use on a TV/Projector than as a portable. However, this one seems much more usable as a portable than the last one, the screen was just to small. Also, I had to buy an adapter. The previous model comes with an A/V cable, this one does not. So I used the old one and found it did not fit. The plug that goes into the unit is smaller than a headphone jack, so I bought an adapter at radio shack that makes the small one into a bigger plug the standard headphone size. There is a white and yellow for audio/video, and the plug that goes into the unit. Next, I tried the headphone jack with headphones and it worked. Haven't tried the SD card yet. Wondering if they will replace my unit because it is obviously defective. If it wasn't for that, I would say this a good, cool product.
