I let the water age for a couple days before pouring it into my hatching dish. Mine hatched in under 24 hours. This is now my 4th kit and each time I ended up with 5 to 8 triops. When they first hatch out you'll see dozens but they are known to cannibalize each other so keep that in mind. These little guys are crustaceans so they require the limestone to be added so they can molt and grow. The local store should have gallon bottles of distilled water. I place two tanks side by side with limestones in them. One they hatch out in and once that's dirty they are moved to the second tank that has already acclimated and is the same room temperature. Their life span is about 8 weeks. Some have lived longer and it's pretty cool to see the eggs develop on their legs. Keep these guys fed! As they get older the weak ones will be eaten by the others. For the price and fun these guys have brought me I suggest you give it a try. They look like little horseshoe crabs. They grow so fast and it’s so fun to watch. The beginning process is so fickle, make sure you follow the directions to a T, and make sure you find natural spring water. Water that has been filtered will not work. DO NOT put into a tank with other fish, it WILL get eaten. We miss Frank..
