If you are a candle snob, this one's on par with the rest of them in terms of fragrance composition, sillage, and quality. I'd classify Xochimilco as a clean, green, not-too-sweet, fruity-floral. If you're a Baies fan, this scent falls within that family.But who is Ovando? Well, She's one of the top floral designers in NYC known for artistic, sculptural, flower arrangements. I live right by the Ovando boutique and it's total antithesis of a "florist" -- more like an art gallery: Walk into the dark, black, mysterious parlor to see breathtakingly curved whorls of blooms and stems like abstract paintings. Minimalist yet lush, Ovando creations are a staple at high-profile events around the city for that reason--just do a quick Google image search. I'm so glad to see Ovando extend her brand into fragrance products. No other major floral designer has done that since Robert Isabell, whose perfumes are still highly regarded, though discontinued.Beautifully boxed, this candle makes a great housewarming gift to someone who appreciates high-end candles or is into flowers/floral design.Priced to compete with other luxury candles, this is not for the person who's into Bath & Body Works' or Yankee Candles; they may not appreciate it at first.
