Review: One of the best pocket sharpeners you can buy - Honestly this is kind of the best you can get for a pocket sharpener. 600 grit isn't idea for ultra fast rough work. If you had a blunt edge and need something to get you to working edge fast, i would want a very coarse 320 grit or even 220 grit. However if you want to keep your edge serviceable this is kind of perfect. 600 grit is fine enough to give you a keen edge, rough enough to do a little profiling if you are desperate. Simple system, nothing really to go wrong, quite durable and easy to pocket or toss in a field bag, so reasonably priced its not heartbreaking if you lose it. You do need to learn to sharpen though, this is totally unguided, but with a little practice and fairly steady hands you should have no issues getting at least a working edge. This sharpener alone is very capable of shaving sharp edges on well heat treated steel. If you are consistent you can easy do light passes alternating sides and break that burr off, negating the need for a strop, but a strop would be a good addition. Ultimately, this is the best one step pocket sharpener I have come across. it can handle most of your sharpening needs. I could be satisfied with this being my only sharpener if it came down to it. I definitely recommend.

**Q: Have they fixed the diamond coating chipping off problem?**
A: I haven’t noticed any chipping on mine. Bought it around 8 months ago and very been pretty rough on it.

**Q: Is this the same as a steel, like the kind that comes with kitchen knife sets?**
A: No, this has a slight grit to it, you can feel it working . I use it for kitchen knives and my pocket knives. I really like this tool.

**Q: How do you keep the correct blade angle when sharpening? 18 to 22 °**
A: Well if your blade is wide enough, with a flat blade face, you could get one of those magnetic angle finder and stick it on the knife when using this sharpener. You also would wanna lay the rod horizontally on a leveled surface to drastically reduce any unwanted movement while being used.

**Q: Will this work for sharpening a karambit knife?**
A: You could for a quick sharpen. I use it for my utility knife blade. But for main sharpening I would use a wetstone.

Honestly this is kind of the best you can get for a pocket sharpener. 600 grit isn't idea for ultra fast rough work. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Happy with the function

I own a lot of knives and have carried one in my pocket since longer than I can remember. This sharpener will not remove a lot of material to fix a severely damaged blade but that is not what it is for. It works great for a quick sharpen to maintain an edge or straighten some of the harder steels. I bought one to keep at work but will soon buy a couple more to keep around in other places and maybe as gifts for other knife collectors/users I know. EDIT: I had to come back and knock this down to 4 Stars due to how long this lasted for me. I usually use a regular stone on my daily carry but keep this thing around because I like to keep a sharp edge. While it worked great, it did not last as long as I felt it should. I purchased this item Nov 2020 and after a little over a year of maybe being used 2-3 times a month it was worn out. I'm keeping it at 4 stars due to the fact that when working, it works excellent and it was a good price when I purchased it. I did buy a spare one of these recently (not from Amazon, found it in a store) but once it gets close to being worn out I will still buy another one of these. I have tried a few types of small hones like this and the function of this one outweighs the lifespan for me unless the price for this item has a major spike.
