Review: Perfect Match with the Nighthawk BE19000 - This Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 cable internet modem is pure awesome. I quickly noticed a increase in both my speed and performance while using this unit. It's so very many light years above the Arris Surfboard S33 that I last had that it will never be funny again. The best perfect match for this unit that I have come across as you all see in photo is the Nighthawk BE19000 router, future proofing my purchase with Wifi 7. I am paying for internet speed of 1gbps, with that said, looking at the photo again you can see that I am getting every bit of my money worth and then some. Another thing that I like about the CM2000 is that it doesn't get hot like my Surfboard S33 was until it played out. The two Nighthawks look so beautiful together. With this setup came another change, that change was my eithernet cables, going from using the round ones to the flat. Awesome outcome. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. I pulled out and these two devices with the flat cables put out. Giving me every single drop that I am paying for and you can not get better than that. And this is also why I never ever except gear from those I am buying my service from. You'll never get all that you are paying for, and one other thing, I never ever buy a modem that doubles as a router to.... this is never the way to go. For the best performance, these things were made to join forces and become that mighty force. And that's exactly what I have here now. The best part is yet to come and that's when Wifi 7 is in place, I'll already be ready for it with the BE19000 and the CM2000 having it's back. For those that's down playing these products, it's strictly because of something that "YOU" have going on, not because of these products. My first two routers were Netgear, so it's more than safe to say that I have only come back home. They are handling every single thing I am throwing at them. I recall the days when the play store would load when I open it, with these devices paired together, opening the play store now a days it's like it never went anywhere or was never closed. Now I don't see the word "Downloading", I see installing. If anything happens to this setup, I'm going to first cry and then re-buy.
Review: Consistent & Fast Internet Connection - I upgraded to a Motorola MB8611 modem and a new ASUS router in 2021 to fully utilize the speed in my Xfinity plan. I had occasional, brief disconnects from the internet early on. However, these disconnects continued to increase in number over the year until recently it was dropping off several times a day. After checking cables, connection to Comcast, modem resets, etc., I decided to switch out the modem. I had considered the Netgear CM2000 (up to 2.5 gigabits) modem initially but went with the less expensive Motorola since I had used Motorola modems in the past without problems. The Netgear modem setup was very straightforward as I already had the Xfinity app loaded on my phone from the previous installation. Activation via the Xfinity app took only a couple of minutes and a couple more minutes for the modem to restart. Worked with my router without any issues as soon as I plugged it into that device. Download speed varies as expected during the course of the day/night, but it usually exceeds the fastest speeds I got from the Motorola. It’s been over a week and, so far, no disconnects! Keeping my fingers crossed… Added note: I usually decline the desertcart protection plans, but I did add them to the earlier order. Making the claim on the old modem was very simple and quick. I did wait until after the holidays and delivery delays were over to return the old modem, using the prepaid label Asurion had sent me. I was credited with a refund for the full price that I paid for the modem (excluding tax) via an desertcart gift card within just a few hours of dropping the box off at the UPS store. Update 12/10/2023. It's been about a year since I bought and installed the NETGEAR Nighthawk Multi-Gig Cable Modem (CM2000). Still working flawlessly with no slowdowns or disconnects from the Comcast account.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why does it say 4x ethernet ports in your description where there is only one**
A: Actually, because Amazon shows the same questions/descriptions for multiple different products. The CM1200 has four ports, the CM1000 has one.

**Q: With the cm1200 and xfinity residential cable internet, can you use one wan port to your computer for a direct connection and on wan port to router?**
A: Both the CM1150V and CM1200 have 4 Ethernet ports. That does not mean you don't need a router. These four Ethernet ports support future multi-gig services by using link aggregation and two or more different IP addresses. The CM1100 has two Ethernet ports for the same purpose of future link aggregation. If you want a multi-gig cable modem (2.5 Gbps) without the need for aggregation, you'd like the CM2000 or CM2050V with XFINITY voice support. I know NETGEAR does not do a very good job explaining this to potential buyers and I hope this helps someone.

**Q: So, up to 2gbit modem with - drumroll please - 1gbit network ports. not 2.5gbit. which engineer was responsible for this fail?**
A: which "engineer"? It was probably "beancounters" in marketing.
this CM1200 model has 4 ethernet ports. but only 2 are functional.
the first 2 ports can be Link Aggregated, to get downloads up to 2 Gbps.
the other 2 ports are mere decoration to trick naive trusting people to buy this model.
not to overlook, Netgear only certifies this model to 800 Mbps with Xfinity.
that's what it says here in the ad. (and also on Netgear website)

**Q: Can I replace my existing cable modem from Spectrum with this, on my own/ without a service call or having to call customer service?**
A: Replacing your modem does not require a service call, but you will need to call Spectrum customer service, as they will need to activate the modem as an authorized device on their network before it will be able to lock down a connection. You will need to provide them with the unique MAC address of the device - specified on the modem's label. Customer service calls can be irritating, but when I did the same a month or so ago, the tech knew what needed to be done and the entire call, once speaking with the tech, lasted about 5 minutes - little hassle...this time.

### ⭐ Works like a charm... Until it bricks 2 months later
*by R***R on January 23, 2026*

Purchased this during Black Friday 2025 and it stopped working entirely on January 21st, 2026, less than 2 months later (only the bottom 2 lights would display when plugged in, not even the power LED, and absolutely no internet pass-through). Tested internet with a backup modem/router and combo which worked fine, so it was definitely the modem. Jumped on the phone with NETGEAR support after exhausting all usual troubleshooting procedures and, after trying to do a "shock reset" (to no avail), they determined it was a hardware issue and issued a case number. They "graciously" offered to send me a label to send it in, let their technicians investigate, which upon verifying the NETGEAR team would send a new modem (2-3 weeks at minimum). But hold on, they mentioned there are two more options! If you don't want to wait, they'll send you a replacement FIRST and you can send yours back in the box for only $17! Or, if it's very urgent to have internet, they'll do the same thing but with express shipping for triple the cost! It was truly a unique customer service experience, whereby they were so unembarrassed & disconnected from the fact their $300 product was a total failure that they honestly think trying to pressure you in to paying anything to simply rectify their own shortcomings. It wasn't until I pointed out that the holiday return window was still open that they became less confident about pressuring me into their scam. That being said, I'd recommend just going with the CODA56 or S33 (also a 3.1 next gen) and urge anyone reading to skip this sleek-looking heap of garbage. The company won't care when it breaks and should be investigated for fraud considering my experience (conveniently dies right after warranty/return window expires) matches so many others in these reviews. This was my first time in over a decade taking a chance on NETGEAR and will be the last time I do so,
