Set is a small town, this is a story of family, redemption, loss, loyalty, and unearthing the unsaid. It is solidly Rebecca Yarros and you really can do no wrong in reading it. It is light on "steam" and big on emotion--without being "heavy." I DO WISH I could find this epilogue that was promised at the end of the book. From what I can tell, know one else found it either. Kinda created an unintentional let down for the story. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 star read!! *by J***O on May 7, 2025* Omg!! I absolutely love this book! Had me wanting more as I read. Cam & Willow are everything together! I knew from the start that there was more to Cam than everyone knew or cared to know. Everyone in the town was so quick to judge him and accuse him without facts and he was quick to let them, all because he wanted to cover for his brother, he was ok with being the bad guy! But damn, the fact that he was blamed for Sullivans death was insane. I’m glad that in the end they got to understand him and see him for who he really was, a loving, caring and selfless person. Xander on the other hand, I mean yes, he was a kid but pushing Willow and leaving her behind in the mines just to fake the rescue (which backfired) so happy Cam saved her. The fire that everyone blamed Cam for and turned out Xander started it so he could get again try to be seen as the hero!! That’s insane! He’s insane! I was so happy to see that Cam got to fix his relationship with his dad and his dad admitted he loved him but was hard on him because he reminded him of himself!! I literally CRIED!! I would read this book again!!
