Based on Brazilian pao de queijo ("cheese bread"), its ingredients come from the tropical manioc plant (aka cassava or yucca). I've made these 3 times - and they are super easy and have turned out great every time! The first 2 times I made them into balls as recommended. They were great. Tonight rather than making 16 balls, I made 4 larger buns so we could have them with burgers. And yes, they worked really (!) well! Even before we were GF, neither of us liked a lot of traditional buns because they are so much volume of bread. I shaped these like hamburger patties and they came out perfect. When sliced in half, they were substantial enough to adequately hold a burger together and had a nice outer crunch and inner softness. I will definitely make these again and again! Just ordered the pizza dough and regular bread dough too. Oh, and I gave my mom a box - she took them on a camping road trip and cooked them in her dutch oven. She said they turned out great!
Review: A Must-have in a GF household! - Amazingly easy and very tasty! I am not a baker, but the instructions are so easy to follow and it is such a quick recipe that I could not resist to try it and I am very glad that I did. As a bread lover, who needs to be in a Gluten Free diet, I was to go to a small Brazilian bakery to buy cheese bread that was GF and delicious, I used to buy big bags and freeze them, then 25 mins in the oven and voila! amazing bread! Then I moved away, I missed that bread until now that I have found the same texture, amazing taste and easy to prepare bread mix!... I just bought the this mix (for cheese bread), but you can use it for other purposes: I made what my husband described as "great pizza" the other night! Just divide the dough into two parts, flattened them into the shape of 2 personal pizzas, bake them for 15 mins at the temperature on the recipe, then took them out, added sauce, toppings, cheese and bake them for 10 mins more at 425! ... I am so making pizza again!!
