Review: Easy to install and works great! - The closer is compact and appears well made. The instructions were easy to follow and include a reversable drilling template for mounting on doors with either left or right mounted hinges. I highly reccomend this closer and would buy it again in a heartbeat. This replaced a spring loaded hinge and the difference is astounding! It closes my door quietly and completely whereas the spring loaded hinge would either slam the door shut or leave it open a crack allowing mice to sneak in. I avoided this type of closer before thinking it would be too difficult for me to install, but with this unit I could not have been more wrong. The instructions, and more importantly the drilling template, made the job quick and easy. I simply taped the template to the door, marked the screw locations, removed the template, and drilled the holes. Everything lined up perfectly and it was installed and adjusted in under 30 minutes. Initially the door was stiff to open, but after following the recommendation in the guide the door was easier to open and it still took less than 30 mjnutes to complete the job! My wife and daughter (who is no longer startled awake by the door slamming near her room) absolutely love this item, and since the door always closes completely and keeps the mice out, so do I. If this old man can install it, so can you!

**Q: Is there a way to adjust the ease of opening and closing the door?**
A: Yes just relocate the arm that connects to the door frame another inch or two away from the hinges .
That gives more leverage and makes it easier to open the door.

**Q: It’s really hard to open. My wife and children are having a tough time pushing the door open after installation. How do I make it easier to open?**
A: Thanks for getting in touch with us and sorry to hear that you're having issues with the unit. Depending on the weight and size of your door, there's a number of different things you can do. The first thing to do is move the arm shoe 1-2 inches away from the hinges to reduce the resistance. The second thing you can do is rotate the arm shoe 180 degrees so that the long end of the foot is facing towards the hinge in the EN2 position image if the hinges were to be on the left. Finally, if neither of these works, please adjust the speed regulation valve at the end of the closer. By rotating the valve anti-clockwise, the ease and speed of the door opening should increase. If you still encounter issues, please send us a photo of the door.

**Q: Do you have a door closer that keeps the door open completely without a stopper?**
A: This closer will in fact work as a hold open in certain situations. I needed an auto close for a gate with a different mounting and hinge setup from most other doors and gates. I installed the arm foot to the post and the closer to the back of the gate. The auto close feature is still adjustable and closes the gate all the way, and if I open my gate just past the 90 degree mark it will hold open.

Sure wish the instructions were more helpful. First thing they should endure is mentioned and reenforced is the adjustment screws need to be facing the hinge side. Second there is no mention about adjusting the threaded rod - how or why. Third, the assumption is no trim around the door that protrudes out past surface of door - you end up either trying to move opener down a bit more (missing top inner rail of door and holes to patch) or doing some trimming of the frame so the arm doesn’t stop the door closing fully. Last, not any real explanation about what either adjustment screw is for or examples. Also missing is how to adjust opening tension. There are a few things mentioned that imply it can be done, but nothing is clear. To further confuse you, there are 2 specific forces mentioned for standard or wider doors (EB2 and EB3) but no mention on how to use that info. There is one place that implies it has to do with the direction of the shoe mounted to the door frame over the door. However later in the troubleshooting section it shows that the only correct orientation is the EB3 way. Other than that (and 4 install cycles and some patching, it works.
