Definitely follow the direction on the bottle (5 tbsp + 3/4 c of water) and simmer the rice cakes until the sauce thickens. I think the negative reviews about there being “chunks” didn’t do this. It definitely needs to be diluted. Another note: like many of the other reviews, there doesn’t appear to be a safety seal on these jars. I think that’s just how they’re manufactured. Don’t buy into the fearmongering about MSG. **Q: Does this have any meat product?** A: I didn't see any overt meat or fish paste listed in the ingredients. It did have the standard disclaimer that "it is manufactured in a facility that has tree nuts, milk, dairy... and various meats and shellfish." **Q: Can it be used with ramen noodles to make then spicy?** A: The taste is not so great for making Korean Rice Cake.
