I want to use it to hold dog food, and a full bag weights 28 lbs.** A: It seems very sturdy but to be honest I’m only using it for my empties/recycling/mainly plastic and some tin... it’s full long before it weighs that much **Q: What size bin does this use?** A: The one that I’m using is 23” x 13” x 16”. It actually depends on your door/opening size. **Q: I have an 18 inch tall trash bin with a cabinet door opening height of 19.5 inch? Will this fit? How much is the platform height?** A: The platform is about 3” tall. I also have an 18” trash bin and my opening is 20 3/8”. Trash bin fits and operates as designed, just can’t heap the trash, there’s about 1” clearance between top of the bin and top of the opening. We also had to cut a piece out of the back of the top edge to accommodate plumbing.
