I was a little hesitant to purchase this because it seemed on the smallish size and a little pricey, but it's been a GREAT bank. The bank itself is translucent and slides out of the sleeve it arrives in, so you can see the money that is inside and how it builds up. It holds both change and paper money. The three parts of the bank come apart, so your child can bring the "save" part with her to the bank or bring the "share" part with her to local orgnizations (we volunteer at a local animal shelter, so she brings the little "share" section of the bank with her to the shelter and puts the money into the donation box), etc. It also comes with a little bank book, so your kids can input the money as it comes and goes. All in all, I think this is a great introduction to actual banking, as well as a great way to watch money grow over time. Can they be removed easily also?** A: The slot is big enough for bills. The lids are easy to remove. This will suit your needs **Q: Tops ? do they fit snugly or just sit on container ? prefer if my 5 yr old couldn't take them off too easily, will be wondering where the $ went.** A: They fit snugly but I would imagine a five year old could take them off. We started at age 5 and the Spending money was hers to spend so she was always going in there. Every week, she would have to count her Savings and I would give her 5% interest. She would also need to get her Sharing money when we went to church so she could have a donation. We use it to help teach her how to manage her own money, not to hide her money from her.
