Manual states to connect direct to filter no need use the inlet/outlet on the pool, you do need a good powerful filter to get a good result and it doesn't need to be an intex filter as 1 reviewer stated. If the above is used the hoover is brilliant so much better then our brush hoover, it takes a while to clean the bottom we have a 12 ft x 5 ft took 3 hrs as it runs slow but does the job well, it cleans the sides which is a bonus, the machine stops occasionally approx 2mins whilst it thinks about its next move, u do need to rinse and clean the filter regularly during cleaning we empty filter every 2 hrs and when finished. Even though the pool base may look clean the hoover is still picking up invisible bits wish we had bought this a few years ago. I would definitely recommend this pool hoover READ MANUAL BEFORE USE.
