## Overview

Rust-Oleum Anti-Skid Additive is a clear, aluminum oxide-based additive designed to enhance slip resistance when mixed into epoxy, latex, or oil-based paints and stains. Suitable for multiple surfaces including concrete, wood, metal, and fiberglass, it maintains the original coating’s appearance and performance. Each 3.4 oz pack treats up to one gallon of coating, dispersing evenly to provide consistent, industrial-grade skid protection without VOCs or finish alteration.

## Description

Product Description Rust-Oleum Anti-Skid Additive is an aluminum oxide–based, sand‑like texture additive designed to provide skid resistance when incorporated into epoxy, latex, or oil‑based paints or stains applied to concrete, wood, metal, or fiberglass surfaces. Formulated to maintain 100% solids and contain zero VOCs, this additive does not alter the performance, properties, or appearance of the coating when used at the recommended level, with one 3.4‑ounce package treating up to one gallon. The particles disperse easily when stirred slowly and thoroughly into one‑part or two‑part floor coatings, and the coating should be periodically remixed during application to keep the additive evenly incorporated. Ideal for enhancing traction on a variety of coated surfaces while preserving the intended finish, this product offers a simple, effective way to improve skid resistance without affecting coating quality. From the Manufacturer Rust-Oleum Anti-Skid Additive creates a slip-resistant surface, with a bare-foot grade texture that is easy to keep clean. Made from aluminum oxide, the hardest, most durable additive available.

Review: Good Non-Skid - Works well. I added one pack to about 1.5 quarts of a 2-part epoxy based paint, stirred well and rolled it onto the floor of my boat with a short-nap roller. Looks good, no noticeable color change in the off-white. Definitely skid proof. The label says "Mix one package per gallon of paint." I think that might be a little thin. One pack in the quart and a half was more than enough, probably would have been good for at least 2 quarts, but I'm afraid a gallon would be pushing it. Guess it depends on how "non-skid" you want it. On a wet boat deck, better safe than sorry, but a pack per gallon might do fine for a house porch.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this really needed? If I don't use it will i slip around a lot?**
A: This product is worthless. It is like powdered sugar and it will not help at all. An epoxy painted floor will be slick when wet. If you want to make it not slip, use clean masonry sand mixed into the paint.

**Q: I have a kit of rust-oleum that make two gallons of epoxy. Do I add two packets of the anti skid**
A: It works better to sprinkle the antiskid on the wet epoxy surface rather than mix it. Mixing it results in a less skid-resistant surface, and in my experience is less consistent. The anti-skid is very fine, so practice "dusting" on some cardboard before applying it to the epoxy.

**Q: I want to use clear epoxy to seal my new stone shower floor, but don't know if this additive is clear/transparent. Does the additive have a color?**
A: When we coated our garage, we used this. The color didn't change from the grey we had picked out. It's like mixing in clear sand. You;ll still see the texture, but as the description says, "Will not change the color, performance or properties of the coating when added"

**Q: Does this product hinder cleaning/mopping the floor. I dont want a slippery surface but I also want to be able to mop the floor easily.**
A: Yes. It makes mopping more difficult. The fabric of the mop gets caught on the the anti-skid , so leaves little pieces of fabric all over the floor.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Read the Directions People...Thats Why They Include Them
*by S***N on August 26, 2014*

Product worked great. I read several of the other reviews and the problems they had (color mismatch, setting up too fast/slow, non-skid additive settling out, etc) were just from them not following the directions. Read and follow the directions people....that's why they are there. I read and followed them and had no problems. Overall it was easy to install and Im not a handy person. The only issue I had was with the non-skid additive. As you apply the epoxy over an 4-ft x 4-ft area and work your way across the room, by the time you come back the epoxy has partially dried and when you overlap a little, the non-skid grit gets doubled up so you end up with a heavier band of grit across the room every 4-ft or so. Which is evidence that the non-skid additive does not settle out if you mix regularly as directed. Not really a bad issue as I live in Minnesota and my garage will have plenty of water/ice in the winter, but something worth noting. So you can pay someone $2,000 to do it, or do it yourself for a few hundred. Easy, inexpensive, and looks great. Whats not to love?
