One end attaches to the bottom of the downspout and the other end slips firmly over one end of the flexible pipe. The pipe flexes wherever needed. Rented a trencher and got everything put in with no issues. I will say that this pipe is a bit less sturdy as it pulls apart to get to length. As the only load above this will be a mower,I don't expect any issues.
