Then I released both safety cables, and pulled the tailgate to the right and off comes the tail gate. At this point you'll need a socket or wrench to remove some bolts attached to the rusted out hinges and on the tailgate. Be sure to pay attention to what hinge comes off what side so you can recall how the new ones will be installed. The tailgate is not all that heavy, it's just bulky. I was able to do it by myself, but another person just makes it all the more easier. Entire job from start to finish, and taking my time to pay attention to things, it took me 20 minutes. A mechanic could do this job in 5 or 10 minutes. It's only 8 bolts in total. This kit does not come with bolts, you simply reuse the ones you have. and my original bolts were fine to install.
