I'm looking for 2-inch straps that will hold up heavy branches loaded with fruit** A: I used them for new trees about 10 feet tall. They worked really well in keeping our trees grounded in very strong winds (50 + MPH winds). I think is would depend on what you're attaching it to. I placed 3 metal post around each tree. I used one strap for each post around the tree and then used paracord to tie the straps to the metal post. **Q: How far from the trunks should the stakes be?** A: I'm not a tree expert, but have been told that it's best to place stakes farther away from the trunk so that it can develop some strength on its own. For my tree, I placed 2 stakes about 6 feet apart, with the tree in the middle, and extended the two straps to reach the stakes with cords. It seems to be working well. They are well-made and you get 20 in the pack. They are wide enough to provide support without damaging the tree and very strong. They are long enough to wrap around the tree and a support post, which I use a treated 2x2 post. During the last hurricane in 2024 our tree was blown down. This tree was a replacement for the tree that was blown away during hurricane Ian. We pulled the tree upright because the roots were still intact. The straps were used to stake the tree. The installation is pretty easy. It was working well and gave the tree stability. Unfortunately, due to a storm last week with the wind blowing around 50 one of the straps broke.
