Review: I've seen others reports that their RDP session exhibited input delay and poor overall performance. I was having the same issue and about to write a scathing review here on desertcart. After a fair amount of research, I couldn't find any information on their knowledge base about the performance issues I was having. I concluded that it must be a misconfiguration on my end. Sure enough, I found that these devices were auto negotiated down to 10Mbps Half-Duplex on my switches. Once I forced 1Gbps Full-Duplex switch side the performance issues were resolved. NComputing has released 2 new firmware versions for the RX420-RDP in the last month alone, which have improved performance and resolved some known issues. These things are super simple to set up and use. A mouse and keyboard just work, whether wired or wireless. It will transparently pass the RDP session audio through to speakers or headphones that you plug into the line out, or you can use the HDMI cable to route audio to your monitor speakers, or even use a wireless headphone transceiver. The RX420-RDP can take advantage of the discrete GPUs on an RDP host as long as your host is configured to use/prefer hardware-accelerated H.264 via the AVC444 codec. I am currently using a single 2560 x 1440 monitor with these and they work great! Lower resolutions can provide an improved experience depending on your use case and RDP session host resources/configuration. I have not tested multiple displays at the same time on one RX420-RDP, but I assume it works as there are two micro HDMI ports and this is an advertised feature. Although not the perfect experience I find these little things amazing. Although these are just a Raspberry Pi 4 with NComputing Branded Thin client software installed on them. I could make a DIY version, but installing, maintaining, and tweaking software and settings is not worth it for my use case. Having a year of firmware updates for free then a yearly subscription at $12/year is not a deal-breaker at all for me. If I don't want the firmware updates after the first year then I can just use them as-is without paying the subscription. Each RX420-RDP I have is set up as follows: * Powered by PoE splitter so I only need one cable for power and data * Use a wireless keyboard and mouse that run off the same wireless receiver * Monitor resolution is 2560 x 1440, but depending on the use case I may run at 1920 x 1080 * RDP Session Hosts are Windows Server 2019 or Windows 10 * The Session hosts have discrete GPUs for hardware-accelerated RDP sessions * The RDP session hosts are configured for the best quality RDP sessions as bandwidth is not a concern * Each RX420-RDP is configured to use the newer version of RDP instead of RemoteFX * RDP session audio is received via the 3.5mm line out via headphones or speakers

If you're just wanting this device to do basic RDP administration tasks then it works fine, but if you want to use it for anything multimedia related, it doesn't live up to the expectations set out by its marketing material of "full-screen, full-motion HD multimedia playback". VLC/Youtube videos were extremely grainy/choppy, even dragging browser windows around the screen had extreme delay. Remotely accessing the same VM from another PC had no issues, but their support wanted to focus on my network and host performance as the issue and wouldn't listen to my own troubleshooting indicating it was their device. They also kept pushing their 'SuperRDP' package as a solution, but this costs an additional $200 for their license. I'm not interested in paying twice for what should have been included to support their marketing claims. Item has been returned.
