Review: Extremely Flat! - The smooth side is flat to 0.001" of an inch in 5 vertical and 5 horizontal cross sections and 2 diagonal cross sections from corner to corner and edge to edge with calibrated gauge. rough side is flat to about 0.0015" - 0.002" of an inch with an unfortunate falloff on one corner that is around 0.0035" of an inch on the corner. The taper is two inches from the corner in both direction making an even triangle low gradient from 0.0015 at a diagonal line to the lowest point at the corner 0.0035". This is still exceptional for my use as I only need one side to be perfectly flat. It will not be sitting flat side up during use. They package this block in a quarter inch wooden box with little wiggle room for safe shipping. My block came in perfect condition and as stated by the spec I ordered. The material is genuine black granite, and at least one side is within a super flat spec. Overall I strongly suggest getting this! Specially if you're going to be doing what I am, and decking an engine head at home like a mad man instead of just getting it machined.
