Review: I HATE writing reviews BUT...... - This stuff is nothing short of Awesome!!!! If you are lazy or don't have time to spend hours sanding off rust, this is your answer. I have written maybe 3 reviews my entire life and this stuff is worthy of a review!!! I use it for removing the rust off old weights from bench press sets, works like a charm. Only thing is it takes time, don't think you will take off 20yrs of rust in two minutes, give it 12-24hrs (depends on how bad the rust) and it will come out looking like new! I buy the 5gallon size and boy do I need it, it says you can reuse it over and over but each time you use it, you will notice it takes a little longer to work, after about three heavy uses (massive rusted parts filled to the top of the bucket) it slows down significantly and the product at least in my instance turns black (probably from the paint on the weights i suspect) As far as paint is concerned yes it kinda takes it off a little?? but its seriously is hard to tell because there is so much rust on these weights thats I'm not sure how much black paint was initially there to begin with. It seems to really just attack the rust. Oh and its seems ridiculously safe very low oder but i will say it kinda has a very faint sulfur (rotten egg) smell but like i said very faint and hardly noticeable (also one of the weights got away from me and splashed in the bucket and this stuff went everywhere including my face and nothing at all happen just wiped it of and went on about my business). Yellowish, like a crappy beer, in color. Also whats great about this stuff is you can just leave you project in there as long as you want 2, 3 even 4 days no adverse effects once the rust is removed it just will sit there waiting for your next project, and it will leave the unrusted bare metal alone. Do yourself a favor and buy big!!! If your like me you will start to find tons of metal tools and the like around the house that have rust on it. I soaked a complete stator assy from a motorcycle and it cleaned up beautifully. Worked like new when dried and installed too. **Q: How many times can you submerge an item in this and still use it again? Just looking for an estimate....** A: I've gone through about 20 gallons over the past year, cleaning about 2,000 hand tools, ranging from 1.5mm Allen wrenches on up to pruners and framing squares, which I suppose averages out to about 100 tools per gallon. But it really does depend on the heaviness of the rust to start with. I usually use as little as I can: I find a flat-bottomed container of the right size and then just put in enough to cover the tools; using that method, I can usually reuse that small batch for three or four sets of tools before it becomes too black and 'loaded' with rust to use. At that point it seems to be putting more rust on than it takes off. **Q: after using this product and yes it works exellent can i pour it down the sink after using it. how do i dispose of this product ?** A: It is non-toxic and biodegradable, it could be poured down the drain. **Q: What is the shelf life after opening and using?** A: Open and unused at least a couple months. I never had it longer without using it. Used depends on what you de-rusted. I usually get a few uses, especially with small parts. Great for all the little hardware for restoring a classic car. Takes off all the rust.
