I think it takes somewhat longer to cook than the newer induction models that you can find, so if cooking speed is important to you, maybe don't go with this. It has a heat retention function that works very well but even without it, the ceramic pot insulates effectively (the rice is still somewhat warm a couple hours after cooking and turning off the rice cooker when kept inside the pot). The rice comes out fairly easily but a bit less so than from a teflon coated aluminum pot (though I doubt this one will scratch). The very bottom bits of rice also are slightly crispier/crunchier/firmer than the stuff at the top depending on what rice and how much water you use, but I think that's supposed to be a feature. I was initially intimidated due to the Chinese characters but it has the English translation on the buttons! The various choices are in English but not immediately obvious you just need to find the brown corresponding words on top of the lit up Chinese characters. I’ve only tried the white rice setting but so far so good! This will be the main setting that I use anyways. It does take a while to warm up and start cooking which will be indicated by the moving lights and once it’s fully warmed up, the white rice option takes about 8 min to cook and then it switches over to the warm setting.
