The instructions are not very good. A more step-by-step set of photos would have helped because placement is important and you don’t want to start drilling holes until you’re sure. 2. Instructions for folding it back up are missing. Getting the unit back in the bag was difficult. 3. On the first attempt at dust collection the excess fabric got pulled into the dust port and stopped most of the airflow. I solved this problem by two rows of self-adhesive Velcro to hold the excess fabric against the back of the till cart on which the miter saw sits. Once everything was properly set up, no saw dust escaped onto the floor. Highly effective! Before my workshop full of Man Tools was always polluted with saw dust, every surface high and low would continue their dusty progression. Dust would be tracked upstairs to the woman areas which was putting a negative effect on the sammich production. Not any more. This hood catches 99% of saw dust, there are only minute amounts on the floor now. The majority of sawdust from a miter saw comes out the sides of the blade, so your bag or even a vacuum attachment is only catching a small amount. Overall performance: Excellent Installation: Head scratcher. The directions are pointless, there are no examples of this being attached to your particular saw, and my google machine was not hitting on any Ridgid mounts. I scratched my head for a while making sure whatever it was mounted to still allowed for all cuts, even bevel. After what seemed like forever it finally came to me, hopefully the pictures attached to this review will help other Ridgid saw owners. Range of Saw Motion: 95% still workable. There is only one 45° compound bevel cut to the left that can not be made with my current mount setup. So only if I have to fully extend the saw which is only on large moldings. But that same cut can be made on the right side. Overall: 4.9 stars. Directions and their youtube video are trash. It is mounted to a 2.5" dedicated Ridgid shop vac with an iVac Automated Vacuum Switch which is a dream come true. Saw turns on, shop vac turns on 2 seconds later, saw turns off, shop vac turns off 8 seconds later. I used a 4" fernco coupling and Woodstock W1044 4-to-2-1/2-Inch Reducer The construction seems very strong which relates in the price. I bought a piece of 3/4 plywood, cut it to 32x32, mounted it onto the 24x24 inch metal table I was using, then drilled holes through the plywood outside the metal table and just behind the rail for the saw. Got new had bolts to fit and mounted the provided brackets to it and the cover to them. Took a while to figure it out. Directions that came with it were terrible but it does catch about 90 percent of dust. **Q: Would this product work with my sliding compound 12" Dewalt** A: I believe it would. I have a Dewalt compound sliding miter saw and it works on well **Q: Tried using the 4” dust port with the 4” reducer and does not fit. If you want a clean workshop or jobsite this is for you. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great solution, only minor complaint *by H***5 on June 5, 2021* My Ryobi 10" sliding compound mitre saw has always been the worst dust offender in my small garage shop and I'd been thinking for years about how to fix it. The saw is mounted in the middle of the shop on a large workbench, so building an enormous wood enclosure around it, even a removable one, was never practical. It occurred to me to build something like a foldable cloth canopy, and luckily I saw this before trying that myself. They include plenty of hardware for all kinds of mounts, although I'd be wary of Dr. Seuss-style daisy-chains of brackets and bolts. Mounting turned out to be easy for me, as I could just fasten the main supports directly with two bolts in the bench top: Done. The instructions say there's really no wrong way to mount it and they're right. The improvement was immediate. Even with no vacuum attached, this thing turned the saw into the most dust-free tool in the shop, at least for the larger particles. The canopy is collapsible from behind, which works out perfectly for getting it out of the way of a router station when I need it. My only complaint, and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is with the design of the chute leading to the 4" inch fitting, which is more elongated than what's shown on the product page. Without intervention, my modest 750 CFM dust collector sucks the excess fabric into the fitting and effectively seals it, even when I decrease the suction. I have to stuff a 12-inch length of 4" PVC into the throat to keep it open. At this price point a rigid collar sewn into the throat would have been nice. As others have said, even when the air flow is unobstructed, wood chips accumulate inside the canopy, but that's OK. It's no problem to shake the bigger stuff down the chute later. The main point of dust collection is to keep the fine particles out of your lungs and the rest at least trapped in one place, and this product succeeds, with only minor intervention.
