I have a small 4 year old Maltese/Yorkie mix and a 3 month old kitten. After watching some tutorials on YouTube and reading a few forums I felt confident enough to inject the chips myself. I gave my dog a treat to snack on while I prepared to inject her and she didn't even notice when the chip went in! My cat did notice, however, but he only mewed in shock and by that time the needle was already out. I tested both chips and they work flawlessly! Rather than registering with BuddyID (which, admittedly, has some cool features given the additional fees) you can register your chip for free at foundanimals.org or freepetchipregistry.com.
