Benchmark Abrasives 4.5" x 7/8" Type 27 flap discs feature premium European zirconia alumina grit for superior durability and aggressive stock removal. ## Description

Flap discs are used in heavy stock removal, often weld removal. They outperform Resin Fiber Discs due to their increased lifetime and last twice as long as Aluminum Oxide discs. To achieve a finish equivalent to a Resin Fiber Disc, always use a flap disc one grit coarser. e.g. If the operator is running a 60 grit Resin Fiber Disc, try a 40 grit flap disc. This 140 grit flap disc is made with Zirconia Alumina grain, which is ideal for stainless steel and metal applications while still working well with non-ferrous applications. Specific suited applications include: weld blending, removing weld slag, deburring, edge blending, surface conditioning and general metal fabrication. 'Jumbo' or 'High Density' flap discs usually contain 30-60% more surface area for grinding.

**Q: What is the thickness of these discs?**
A: The thickness of the abrasive area depends on the grit:
- The 80 grit is .497" (12.6mm) thick in the area where the abrasive flaps are and that includes the black mounting wheel/disc
- The 120 grit is .315" (8.1mm) thick in the area where the abrasive flaps are and that includes the black mounting wheel/disc
The thickness of the black mounting wheel/disc is standard at a little less than 1/8"

**Q: which ones do you use for sharpening lawn mower blades?**
A: Type 27 is flat. Type 29 is bevelled. Either could be used to sharpen blades, depending on personal preference.36 or 40 grit is very aggressive for fast stock removal. No need to go any finer than that for mower blades.

**Q: Does this have the quick change nut on it?**
A: These fit any 4.5" angle grinders with the standard lock nut, but they DON NOT have the X-Lock type "teeth" to interface with an X-Lock/Quick Change type angle grinder
