I hand washed them, and for whatever reason, the paint came off some of the white eyelets leaving bare metal on a few. Looked terrible, and I didn't want to go through the trouble of arguing with the store about exchanging or paying a cobbler to replace the eyelets, so I decided to try this. I didn't have any of the dry pen issues others had, and it worked right away. It was difficult to get it looking as smooth as the intact eyelets, but I doubt anyone will be looking that closely at the eyelets on my shoes. I haven't replaced the laces or worn them yet, so I can't say how durable it will be, but it will likely need another coat. I think once I run out of this and I need more, for a more precise look, I'll probably buy a small container of this with a brush, as I think the dried texture would be better. They always did excellent job. They were nice and thick. The fluid flowed beautifully.BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!! These pens are junk. Runny, pale, useless!
