Do you have to have a special carhart pant?** A: Yes they go in carhart pants. Find a different brand. They shrank and firmed up after the first wash. I ended up using a garden kneel down pad that I cut to fit. Cheaper and washable. **Q: Do they fit the dickies double knee painter pants?** A: Yes they do. As a matter of fact..... We print a sticker for Dickies and they apply to the knee of their pants in the production facility in Honduras. Our knee pad is the reason they leave an opening in it. We met an executive for Dickies at the trade show in Honolulu in the early 2000's and it took us 2 years to get them to modify their pocket but we did it! If you try them, you won't regret it! If you try them, and don't like them, I will pay you back! It's my personal guarantee. They have performed exceptionally well. I have them installed in Carhartt B136 Double Front Pants. I just received a second set of these and installed them in an identical pair of B136 pants. Washing. I work about 70hrs a week. My wife is super cool and usually handles the laundry. She washes and drys these identical to my other pants with no adverse effects yet. She probably dry them on high. Positioning. I keep them positioned where they naturally sit, at the bottom of the double front. I slightly pull my pant legs up as I kneel down. No issues with this. I wouldn’t want them sewn in place since this would mean they would be bent while sitting or driving, etc. Installing. Very easy. Roll them and insert. Padding. They could stand to be a little more cushy, but I wouldn’t want them to be very much thicker than they are currently. They offer protection and make kneeling much softer. It isn’t like having a thick kneeling pad, but I am very happy still. I really only notice these when I kneel down, so they pretty much disappear during all other activities which is great. Much thicker and they would be annoying. I do commercial refrigeration work and they seem to offer adequate protection and comfort for me while kneeling on Supermarket floors.
