Is it intended to literally be placed in a mug? If so what do you do with it after each shave?** A: 1. Soak a new puck covered with water in a mug over night. This allows virtually any shaving brush to pick up the soap.2. Soak a used puck for 15 to 30 minutes while you shower. You can soak your brush in the same mug as the soap.3. Pour the water off and catch the puck into your hand.4. Squeeze or shake out most of the water in your brush.5. Swirl the brush on the puck in your other hand. Flip the puck over and continue to load the brush.6. When the torque begins to build on your brush, it has probably taken all the soap that it can.7. Put the puck back into the empty mug.8. Put the soap/lather onto your face from the hand you loaded the soap on.9. Build your lather on your face for a couple of minutes adding a dribble of hot water to the center of your brush every 15 seconds or so.10. You can vary the consistency of your lather by the amount of water added.11. If the lather dries out on your face, you need to add much more water. It smells like.....unscented soap. **Q: In the long run, is this product cheaper to use instead of a can of Barbasol?** A: What do you mean "in the long run"? :) I got my puck of Williams from the local pharmacy store for $1.29 :)While I am not a fan of this particular soap (yet), if the choice was between it and anything in a can, I would always choose this. It's a "respect yourself in the morning" product. To give you an idea: I've been using my tub of Proraso soap (which cost less than $10) for the past 2 years. I am about 1/3 into it (or less), so it should last me 6 years when all is said and done :) And Proraso is a softer soap, so most likely Williams will last longer (keep in mind that it's a smaller amount by weight).Oh, and no, it doesn't depend on how often you shave - because that would apply to any product - it's still you shaving with it :) **Q: Do you have to use it in a mug? Can you just rub it in your hands and apply to face?** A: I use it in a mug. I let it soak in hot water in the mug while I shower. It lathers fine at first but dissappears fast.
