For verbs in the Wortschatz, I would have enjoyed the verb conjugated, third person, present, simple past and past participle, just to get a feel for that verb. It starts out gently with basics like the alphabet, pronunciation, and the tricky gender rules — stuff many courses gloss over. Lessons are laid out in a logical order, with grammar, vocabulary, and practice exercises interwoven. The inclusion of exercises in different formats (filling blanks, dialogues, etc.) and frequent practice sections reinforces retention. I am a hands-on learner, so actually writing things down was perfect for me.
