It is a direct replacement for the standard saddle found on a Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul and other guitars made by them. I used it to replace the saddle on a Epiphone Wildkat with a Bigsby tremolo arm, it allows for a very slightly smoother response and stays in tune longer. In this case and most it only needs the existing saddle to be lifted off and the roller saddle placed over the pegs found on Gibson and Epiphone guitars. **Q: do the rollers have sideways adjustment to alter string spacing.** A: Hi, no, string spacing is fixed at 52mm.
