Used by mountain leaders, rescue organisations, backcountry skiers and canoe guides all over the world, these indispensable lightweight emergency shelters allow the users to create a 'microclimate' that is warm and dry - perfect for map reading, group discussions or even as a morale-booster for wet lunch breaks. Bothy bags come in a range of sizes and feature clear windows, mesh vents and roof 'sockets' which can house walking poles for additional support. In 2014 we have modified the bothy's with a new low temperature PU window allowing it to function in even lower tempertures.

**Q: Could two people sit in this? I’m looking for a shelter to sit in with an elderly person, to enjoy the outdoors ?**
A: yes its for 2 but I bought it for emergency protection when trekking in the hills to protect from a sudden deterioration in weather having got cold and wet once and having no protection from wind and rain when eating lunch and in case we ever had an accident and needed protection from the elements. you hold mine up with your bodies and a walking pole and sit on the bottom of the bothy to hold it down.

A: I’m pretty sure that it’s waterproof. I know it sounds pretty silly not knowing, but the few times I’ve used it these has been the least of my concerns. Also, the nature of being in such a confined space is that condensation forms pretty quickly, so it’s difficult to tell of it’s my own moisture, or a leak. Suffice it to say, it’s an excellent emergency shelter, that takes up next to no space, and robust enough to be treated with pretty-well no care at all.

**Q: According to the outdoor gear review on youtube this leaking colander cannot be used as an emergency shelter. please see the review and comment.**

Good quality. Big enough for 6’01” me and my backpack . Two people and gear would be really tight.

Seems well built - not used in the rain yet but imagine it would be a bit of a squeeze for two adults. I’m 6’ tall and seems a bit tight. Will probably buy a larger shelter when I’m walking the hills with other adults and children but good for myself in an emergency and/or to keep dry.

Found this to be small and light, sits in the bottom of my rucsack taking up little space.Made from the same material as Terra Nova tents so if of good quality. Was expecting a floor with a zip in the side but you just pull it over your head and sit at one end, you can use a walking pole in the middle to hold it up but didn't work well in strong wind, still a very handy shelter, worth the money
