A: The hole is perfectly centered and is 9.6 mm or .378" wide

**Q: How do you stop them from slipping out on their own?**
A: I found that putting a couple inches of paper towel over the bottom not only keep the stopper from slipping out.. it also adds a bit more protection from things entering the hole while your unaware. I've just did 4 gallons of grapes with blueberries.. the meter read just shy of a desert wine.. it turned out wonderfully light and easy to drink. THE MAX
