When the device is detached from the hook-n-loop, the spine mount and adjustable (from 2" to 14"/5cm to 35.5cm) lanyard cord ensure the device will stay with you at all times. I found it quite easy to adjust the attachment Velcro type straps so that the assembly stays put on the rucksack strap without slipping down. When the unit is properly attached to the rucksack strap, it holds the GPS (In my case a GPSMAP 64s) very firmly, with no "flopping around". Thusfar, the Velcro attachment is proving very strong, but I am being careful to hold both sides of the tether when detaching the two Velcro halves, in order to view the GPS. (I suspect that over time, and with considerable use, the Velcro may prove to be the weak point of this accessory, so taking a little bit of extra care when splitting the two halves should at least, help with its longevity). As it's a genuine Garmin accessory, the GPS attachment clip is perfectly matched to the slots on the GPS itself - and also being a genuine Garmin accessory, I'd suggest it's somewhat over-priced for what it actually is !!! However, the overall verdict is that it does exactly what I want - which is to hold GPS securely, in a readily accessible position until needed. Review: Useful attachment - I have two of these for my Garmin 66i. It straps onto the shoulder of my rucksack and makes it easy to carry and retrieve to check location. Be careful to make sure that you fit the Garmin to the back plate of the holster to hear a click and test it to make sure it’s secure. I didn’t and the Garmin fell off fortunately not damaged. I think it’s probably the best way to carry the device when out walking and it’s not too expensive. Also the Velcro seems to wear or the attached cord tangles on it so it can impeded you when trying to stick the Garmin back on the holster when out walking. A long chord is provided, ie the GPS device can be attached to the rucksack harness, so it sits on your shoulder (ideal for reception), and whenever the GPS device is needed you can pull it from the mount and hold it in your hand, and then return it to its mount when you have finished. **Q: is this compatable with the oregon 600. thanks.** A: YesYes, this tether is compatable with the Oregon 600, it works well securing you device and at the same time enabling easy access. However you cannot has a protective case with this tether, your garmin will have to go commando! **Q: is this also compatible with the Montana 650t? Thanks** A: I'm not sure as I own a Oregon not a Montana. **Q: Are you able to use this if the gpsmap 64 unit is in the garmin protective carry case?** A: I have a GPSmap 62stc and I can use both together with this unit so would imagine it would be the same with the GPSmap 64. However in practice I found the protective case makes the unit difficult to read and use, so don't use the protective case when my GPS is attached to the tether which is most of the time (by the way, the Tether is fantastic, and would totally recomend it). I do have a screen protector on my unit, and would strongly recomend this. The only time I use the protective case is when the unit is not in use and packed away deep in my rucksack.I have had my gpsmap 62stc for a couple of years now and living in the Falkland Islands found it to perform well in the harshest of weather conditions. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far so good with this *by M***E on 21 April 2016* So far so good with this.
