**Q: What is the “mother”?**
A: The Mother is a matrix consisting of strands of proteins, cellulose, and other compounds in apple cider vinegar produced during fermentation. Cellulose and apple solids including pectin are also part of The Mother.

**Q: How is apple cider vinegar made?**
A: There is a two-step fermentation process. First, the sugars in crushed apples are converted to alcohol during “fermentation”- the same process to make wine or beer. The alcohol is then converted into vinegar, which creates acetic acid.
