I appreciate how he demonstrates each of the eight points in the chapter where its discussed, without being blatant about it. Kinda sneaky. I'm on my second read through. The first time I was engrossed in learning each technique as quickly as I could, taking high level notes. I am now going through it a second time more slowly to savor the wisdom within each chapter and take better notes. In some sections I feel the brain science goes a bit deeper than necessary to convey the point, but ultimately, I appreciate that he provides much evidence to drive the points. I do feel that the book cover doesn't represent how much of a gem this book is -- the burning pen is a bit goofy and misleading (not the author's fault). It's not a pen that should be on fire, it should be a brain with multiple regions all lit up, that is, for readers consuming a book that follows the writing techniques Mr. Birchard presents! This book deserves bestseller status and to be found in every writer's collection of craft books. If more writers read this book, we'd have so many more excellent books!
