Problem is that a single arm doesn't dig into the sandy/muddy bottom to hold you in place. This does, however, there's a few tricks I've learned:1: Its better to sort of throw it out than just dropping it down. Needs a bit of angle to dig into the bottom.2. I use a Scotty Anchor device so I have to make sure I have enough slack in the rope to throw the anchor out.3. While I've never gotten an anchor stuck in the oyster beds, I do as others noted, tie the rope to the bottom and use a zip tie to hold it in place at the top just in case you get wedged in a tough spot. And IF for some reason you lose it, well, that's probably a lot better than damaging your yak ($20 vs. $3K)...4 Stars vs. 5 because its a bit light compared to others. I may try the mod' noted above by attaching some more lead to it, but not quite sure the best way to do that, or placement.Happy Hunting. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple, light, and great for my fishing! *by L***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 8, 2016* I am fairly new to the kayak world, and I feel fortunate that I found an experienced 'yaker to point me to this style anchor. It doesn't seem to be the most commonly used style, but I definitely think it is the best. The claw works great on any type of lake bottom, and I have not had any trouble removing it from weeds as I had expected. It is very light, but holds strongly in place. Not much fancy about it, but I highly recommend it as the best anchor for anyone fishing from a kayak.Note: Make sure to attach your anchor rope to the very bottom of the anchor, then use a zip tie or some monofilament line to connect it to the top loop. This is a breakaway feature that will save you an anchor in case you do get it snagged on a boulder or underwater tree or something like that. It will break the line or tie, and pull the anchor up from the bottom end instead. Hasn't happened to me yet, but I was given this same advice, so passing it along.
