Review: lovely book great text and super photographs - what did I like or dislike---there is absolutely nothing to dislike: so I liked the text, it covered technicalities without talking down or making me yawn and backed up the text with such a fine set of photographs. I greatly admired The organisation of the book with timeline section , a glossary with clear explanations and a -never seen it before- illustrated checklist Review: Horoloporn - Horoloporn This book was published as an accompaniment to an exhibition in San Francisco. It is a sumptuous book which gets the balance right between technical detail and lively anecdotal biography. The pictures are absolutely stunning. Breguet's watches are very elegant in comparison to the rather busy and bling-like quality prevalent in English watches of the time. By contrast, English Bracket clocks of that era were understated and elegeant; French equivalents were gaudy and bauble-strewn. Would love to own one of his guilloche watches with the eccentric subsidiary dials. It's not a biography of the man or a detailed examination of his production methods... but it's not meant to be.
