It's a Von!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ British, horror, BBC... Nuff said *by Z***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 19 January 2015* Iv'e always said that BBC AND ITV should get more involved in making movies, because every movies that one of them has done, they've never gotten bad. I didn't even have to read anything about this movie before watching it but because 'Horror, British, BBC' came up I knew it was going to be good which it really is. And pretty creepy and jumpy too, seeing it's basically a film but split into 3 episodes which are about 1 - 1 1/2 I think long, it never gets boring. Plus it's the first that Iv'e seen in a film where it's an Indian ghost lady which was a nice change. The story of the 3 episodes continue after another of trying to find the mystery behind Scarbourough fair which is it's main plot of the whole film and what the connections are.People Who I know really didn't like the ending but I thought the ending was the perfect ending that they could have done because it's really different than other horrors. The film also doesn't hugely rely on the jump scared too because in all honesty I must have jumped about 2 times per episodes but there where a lot of times were it does get creepy.Finally the acting - The acting is really impressive, the people who does a fabulous job is the Indian ghost lady which she is really scary with there Indian cultured outfit and the main girl in it. I would only recommend this to people who wants a story and a confusing one at times and that doesn't purely rely on the scares. it's more about where is the presence that it would be behind the corner waiting. Love it! 5/5 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ M.R. James meets The Ring *by O***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 1 February 2015* There are some quite harsh reviews on this one, and I can accept that. There are also far too many plot spoilers, from what I've seen. I got this on the strength of Michael Palin and hesitated to watch it at first for fear it would be badly done. It is a three part series, and three main characters interact throughout: Palin, an elderly man who appears to be trying to get more care for himself from social services (this is given away by the box); a young lady who works at the nursing home he goes to; and a hapless policeman depressed by his broken family who begins to show sparks of life when he investigates a mysterious event at the nursing home.If you've read M.R. James, you may be aware of the BBC adaptations of his stories. Most of them, in my opinion, are absolutely dreadful. I did see one another reviewer mentioned that was indeed creepy, but to me this was a drama that James himself would have enjoyed with a wry chuckle (though some bad language would probably make him turn pale). The special effects were well done, and not over used, and Palin was great in a role unlike any I've seen him in. I would say if you like thoughtful horror stories with a bit of the occassional, violent turns, this is one great film. I don't really get scared by any movies I've seen in the last ten years, but I was almost scared by this one. The subtle horrors remind me of M.R.
