The Cool Caps were designed to be used with regular glasses, avoiding some of the chemicals in plastic but they will securely fit any cup with a RIM diameter of 2.75 - 3.75 inches. The cup just needs to be on a flat surface prior to putting the cap on. They are made of thick, durable, long lasting silicone, so they fit best on durable steady cups. I've never seen Ikea's cups, but sometimes a thin plastic cup is not substantial enough to support the cap. It wouldnt fit tightly, so some liquid could still spill out from the straw area. But it will hold the straw upright. **Q: Could a person with manual dexterity problems be able to apply this to a plastic cup without help?** A: The plastic cup would have to be one of the stronger ones that are sold everywhere now. I place the lid in the palm of my hand, plop it on the cup & walk my fingers around the edges to make sure it is sealed. It has proved very successful in use with both mugs of hot drinks and glasses of cold drinks. It is easy to clean in the dishwasher after use. One word of warning, the person who prepares the drinks needs to be quite dexterous, as fitting the lid over some hot mugs can be a bit fiddly until you get the knack for each mug size. I would recommend not filling hot drinks too near to the top of the cup while you are learning the technique, to avoid spillage and possible burns. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic product. The cap fits the beaker perfectly and is very easy to fit. The cap has three rings that stretch and grip different sized cups or glasses. You can use ordinary drinking straws but if you use the Cool Straws they make for a better seal. If your cup/glass does get knocked over the caps are not 100% leak proof, a little does escape from the top where the straw goes in. I am very happy with my purchase of these caps. I no longer need to worry about beakers of pop being knocked over. My grandson is happy too and has given the cap and straws a thumbs up.The caps and straws aren't just for use with children. I look forward to using them when sat out in the garden in the summer. We only really use them for our 7 and 3 year old's glass of water on their bed side tables so can't attest to proper toddler use. But I'm pleased with them and our boys like them.
