Review: It works great! PS3 controller takes extra work but will work--read for info - My son really got used to using Wii U Pro controllers with the Wii U. He likes the Wii U Pro controller a lot and I found a controller on clearance so I didn't care much that he got his grimy. Grimy controllers are one of my pet peeves. But now that we have the switch, my son always want to use my Switch Pro controller. I don't want to pay for another Switch Pro controller, but he's already gotten my Switch Pro controller gross once! This solved all my problems. He now can use the Wii U Pro controller and I can have the Switch Pro controller all to myself! It's not perfect. It does have some pros and cons. Here they are: Pros: -lets me use a Wii U Pro controller or a Wiimote, or a PS3 controller, or a PS4 controller with my Switch. (one controller at a time per 8Bitdo adapter) -sync was easy--press the button on the 8bitdo adapter and then press the sync button on the Wii U Pro controller. It's slightly different for other controllers except for PS3 (see cons). -Just works. I've had zero issues playing games this way. It does not seem to add lag or any other issues. Cons: -pairing a PS3 controller requires a windows or mac computer and a program from the 8Bitdo website (included in the firmware download). It works, but it takes work. -can't turn the Switch on when the Switch is asleep in the dock. The home button on a real Switch controller will turn on the docked Switch but no buttons on a controller connected to the 8Bitdo receiver wake the Switch up. -no rumble except for PS4 controllers for some reason -no motion controls except with a PS4 controller. (This is sometimes expected since the Wii U controller doesn't have motion controls built in). -can only use in dock mode. Well, actually I tried with a USB-C to USB adapter in portable mode and it works, but you'll need a stand or something and you can't plug in your battery charger. I also assume it will affect battery life, but I assume not too much. (I won't be testing because I won't be using it in docked mode) -no manual except the barest instructions on the back of the box. It at least should tell you to go to their website for the full manual! Concerns: -I've had no problems with the adapter interfering with Switch controllers, but it is a a bluetooth adapter when the Switch connects to the official controllers with bluetooth too. I'm thinking about getting a second 8Bitdo adapter, but I wonder when too much bluetooth interference might cause problems. I know I'm not saying it's the most amazing thing ever, but it really does solve a problem and make controllers I already have useful with the Switch. So I'm really happy with it. I don't care about motion controls and I can live without rumble. As far as actually working with the controllers, it's perfect. I really do suggest this as a way to get controllers working with your switch.
Review: Works great and made using my PS4 controller on Switch easy - I really liked this adapter and it worked exactly as I hoped. I used it to connect my PS4 controller to my Nintendo Switch, and the setup was quick and straightforward. Pairing was simple and took only a minute. Once connected, the controller worked smoothly with no noticeable input lag or connection drops. Button mapping felt natural, and gameplay was consistent across different games. The adapter itself is small and unobtrusive, so it does not get in the way while playing. It feels well made and stayed securely plugged in during use. I also appreciate how versatile it is, since it can be used across multiple platforms instead of being locked to one system. Overall, this adapter did exactly what it promised and made gaming more comfortable by letting me use a controller I already like. It has been reliable, easy to use, and well worth it for anyone who wants controller flexibility on the Switch.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how many controllers can you use simultaneously connected to this adapter**
A: One controller per-adapter

**Q: If you connect a DS4 to it on a Switch, can you still use it in multiplayer games along with other controllers? e.g. joy cons, pro controller.**
A: Yes, it acts as its own separate controller. The Switch thinks is a "USB controller" even when its wireless, and you can other other Switch controllers.

**Q: Will I be able to use a Wii Classic controller if I pair a Wii controller and plug it into the controller?**
A: Yes

**Q: Can I use two of these to pair two controllers (1 each)?**
A: there was another person who asked this question but someone said no because they wont fit next to one another. I'm assuming for those that did do this you had to use a usb extension cable to hook up the other one because 2 adapters wont have enough space to be hooked up next to one another. Can anyone confirm they have done this? Id like to use 2 PS4 controllers spending less than $50 rather than $60 for 1 controller

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent stuff.
*by M***G on December 12, 2018*

Okay so I have a lot of controllers. Perhaps too many, I mean dating back to the Genesis & SNES, and a few adapters to get them working on other such things. So, I've been buying controllers for a while and when I saw that the Switch's pro controller had that hefty of a price tag and the dpad is apparently not great- I wasn't about to buy that. So, hesitantly I grabbed this and decided to give it a go given it's price...and it works great! I want to try it with my RetroPi soon but with the Switch and Smash Brothers? It's been great. Tried my WiiU Pro Controller which didn't have any noticeable lag. Tried it with Sonic Mania, Freedom Planet, DOOM and the new Monster Boy game. Everything works as it should and I'm not sure what I can say. Your controller that worked well on one system, now works on this one! The only complaints I can give are not really a fault of the device itself it's that the controllers you'll want to use will not likely have all the functions: You're not going to get the full functionality with other controllers. Your XB1 controller isn't going to magically get motion controls and the triggers aren't going to give different pressure ranges to the switch. Motion apparently will work with the PS4 controller? But I haven't tested that. You also don't have a screenshot button with something like the WiiU Pro controller, so you'll have to keep a joycon near you to do that. Which does work! The controller will also not power on the system, so if you're a lazy bum and can't press the button on your switch before sitting down, then that'll probably annoy you. What I do like is that there's no need to pair after you've done it the first time (unless you pair the controller with another device after). It's quick to get the controller on and working with the system and nice. Tips: Update the device's firmware. Go to 8bitdo's website, find the firmware installer. Unzip ALL the contents to a folder, open the exe, plug in the device to a USB port, hit patch, wait a few seconds. You're all done. After that, plug it to your switch/retropi/pc/etc. Hold the pair button on the stick, then the controller should sync fast. For the Switch you NEED to go to your options menu and enable "Pro Controller Wired Communication". Smooth sailing after this. The set up seems a bit crazy but it's simple, and once you're done? You're done. Conclusion: I highly recommend this if you're not interested in spending a ton of cash on the pro controller and you hate the joycon's 'dpad'. You probably have one controller that'll work with this (PS3,PS4, XB1-S, WiiU Pro Controller) so it'll give an old controller extra use and save your wallet some pain.
