We tried different leashes and vests, but this one gives us the most control and is the most humane when it comes to controlling him. Now, he doesn't pull near as much as he did with the regular leashes and vests. The vests are the worst when trying to teach your dog to heel or control his behavior towards other dogs because it cradles them and only makes things worse when he wants to confront another dog. With this leash, he now sits when other dogs walk by whereas before he would go off on a barking spree unable to even hear commands. But now, he listens so much better and we can tell, he's happier now that he's settled into the new leash. He likes it SO much better than his vest. We used to have to chase him down to put the vest on. Now, he sits and waits for us to put the leash on him. Best of all, we have much more control over him, so we know we can keep him safe and out of harm's way. There are a couple of things I'd suggest: (1) There are two locking beads to control how far open and how tight the leash loop can be. I found that I only need the outside bead that keeps it from opening and coming off his neck. I don't need the inside bead, because he stops choking himself when he feels the leash tighten up and the rope is large enough in diameter that the loop opens back up as soon as he stops pulling. So I slide the inside bead all the way toward the inside part of the collar to get it out of the way. (2) Keep the leash up high on his neck so that the rope is up high under his jowls and the loop comes up around and behind his ears when you want the most control and want him to heel. I have been using only a traditional leash and collar until buying this and was having some trouble especially on walks with a lot of exciting distractions. But It's Not a Slip Lead if It Doesn't Slip. Ish. *by K***D on July 19, 2024* The quality of this lead is excellent. The orange color is vibrant, but not like a "safety orange" color, which is great. I wish it did not have a metal stopper on both sides of the slip ring. I decided to remove the inner stopper so that the lead would slip freely, and/or not be against my dog's neck. Well, the hammer won, but the braided nylon lost. I guess I didn't know my own strength! My bad. But I would give the lead 10 stars if I could, and I very highly recommend it.
