Product Description Originally developed by the German government as an economical form of transportation, the iconic Volkswagen Beetle became the most popular car in the world. It was consistently modified and improved throughout its production, but the basics of the car remained the same. It was inexpensive to run and very reliable. In the 1960s, it was a symbol of the “hippie” generation. This Revell model kit features a detailed 1500 cc rear mounted engine with opening hood, positional front wheels, and optional right- or left-hand driving positions. It is molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires. Requires paint and glue (not included). From the Manufacturer They were designed by one of the most hateful regimes in history, but Volkswagen sales peaked at the height of the 60s and 70s. They were icons of the counter-culture movement. The original Type 1s were efficient and inexpensive marvels of engineering. The type became so popular that over 21 million Beetles have been produced throughout their 65-year production run. It has taken nearly fifty years for the automotive industry to create cars to match the Beetle.

**Q: How much paint and glue is needed to complete this model?**
A: How much do you have? Ok, I'm kidding. I painted the body with a can of spray paint from Auto Zone. They have these smallish cans there that are supposed to be for spot repairs on real cars. I found a nice metallic blue that looked gorgeous. One can will paint 4 to 5 model cars. For the frame (VW guys call it the "pan") I bought a large can of flat black Rustoleum from Home Depot and it will paint a dozen or so chassis. For the interior and all the engine details I bought a Testors Promotional Enamel Paint Set. That gave me plenty of different colors from which to choose. As for glue, I bought one small container of Zap-a-Gap at a local hobby store. This is a Cyano-acrylate that you can use for almost everything on the model EXCEPT you must NOT use on windows. For that, I use Elmers White glue. Find a YouTube video on how to glue in model car windows with white glue. The little bottle of Zap-a-Gap (or equivalent) super glue will do dozens and dozens of models. If you are buying this for a gift, you could spend a few coins getting set up but, in the end, it all comes back in hobby enjoyment.
