    Book better than movie...

*by Y***! on 3 April 2013*

A true story of love, pain, sacrifice and a happy ending all based on God's love and ones personal faith.I first saw the movie which I thought was good (maybe had something to do with Channing Tatum!) and so inspired me to read the real story. Well the real story is so much more than the movie (which did not do the book any justice). The book is a true representation of a marriage built on the foundation of God and that love truly does conquer all. The movie was just that, a Hollywood-filled, sensationalized version to get the people to fill the seats. After reading the book I was very disappointed in the movie as there were no references to God or the couple's faith, which is what held them together and the basis of 'the vow'. If you have not seen the movie but intend to, I would recommend that you read the book first that way you can fully understand where I am coming from.Loved the book and would definitely recommend it.

Different from the film, but very good

*by K***E on 19 January 2017*

The film and book have little in common beyond the fact they're about a woman who loses her memory. Both are good, though, in entirely different ways. The book is heavily focused on the couple's extremely strong faith in God so those who aren't interested in religion may not enjoy it. The film is much more chick lit romance oriented and full of fiction. I recommend both.

    An interesting read

I'll tell you the truth right off the bat, I bought this book after watching the movie 'The Vow' and thoroughly enjoying it... Im also a Channing Tatum fan so, you know ;) I had heard that the movie wasn't based on the book just the general idea of the relationship featured in the book but I was a little surprised by how few similarities there actually were.I found the relationship between Krickitt and Kim fascinating as it had to evolve in ways that no one should have to go through. I actually learnt a few things with regards to medical care and it gives you an interesting insight into the likes of coma's and physiotherapy.Another thing I feel I have to mention is that there are references to religion and God in this book. I respected that this was a huge part of their lives and in some ways could relate but there may be others who aren't that interested in hearing about religion as a constant flow throughout the book.I picked the book up and had it finished within 24 hours, I realise that it isn't very thick but I have a life too, you know? ;) I would say that if you buy it because you loved the movie, I wouldn't let yourself think that it's the same thing, the two are very different in a lot of ways. I'm glad I read it and I did enjoy it, but I don't think I'd pick it up again in the future.
