I say this because I've seen other traps on the market that advertise themselves to be 100% humane and shoppers have shown that those other ones are absolutely not the case with those designs using a spring that snaps the door shut behind the mouse and very possibly getting the tail off of them. I've looked at those and they offer very little space and below minimum openings for air holes.This trap lets the mouse walk a ways into the tunnel and then activate the lever to fall back and then the door shuts behind the mouse. You can try to understand it with the pictures I provided.-The one thing bad about this trap is that it is impossible to open the bait door to easily place bait there. It seems overly complex, and the instructions are just a tiny, square, piece of paper that maybe oversimplifies it. I don't see why they decided to make it as difficult as they did. I'm sure they could have made it a ton easier and still be secure. Still, it's the best trap I've seen for fitting a trap in a small space.I've provided pictures to help you judge the size of this without needing to pull out a ruler. My measurement devices are varying flavors of Mtn Dew. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Large deep trap, mice don't freak out in it. *by W***M on Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2018* Deep trap, 15 inch long, so there is plenty of length for the mouse to go to the bait end and set off the door tripping platform without getting their tail caught. The door is a gravity dropped so there are no springs to deal with. Plenty of air holes and big enough so the mouse is not stress out if you have to wait a day to check it. Only for one mouse at a time and probably to small for a rat unless a small one. If I need to transfer a mouse from a small cage to a lager one with out fear of getting bit, I just bait it again, place it in the small cage and the mouse goes in again in about 2 minutes. Mice aren't to smart it seems.. Only issue is the baiting end. It is held in place by 2 squeeze tabs on the sides and a fixed locking tab on the top which makes it difficult to open. I ground off that tab and now opens quite easily. Isn't really isn't necessary as the end cap is very secure without it. Bought 2 and the garage was clear of the 5 mice I was trying to trap in 2 days. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ They fixed it! Now just make cleaning it easier. *by J***A on Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2018* I bought an earlier version of this that didn't have the metal band at the entrance and mice managed to chew through that rendering the trap useless. This works fine for the field mice that find their way into my kitchen, my only negative is cleaning it. I've taken to soaking it in hot water to get all the droppings out, one or two inevitably end up under the trap door mechanism and it's painstaking trying to clean those.
