Easy to use and fun to watch the sprouting process. *by S***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2019* A great little product! Do buy really fresh sprouting mix sold in a sealed bag as this really makes a difference. If the sprouting mix you use has been in your cupboard a while these may produce disappointing results when sprouted. The above photo is 2-3 days of sprouting time and already the sproutings are ready to use fresh in a salad or added to a wrap, or stir-fried. The seeds had already started to sprout tiny shoots by the evening of the first day! Personally I would wait two more days if you can till the sproutings produce small green tips by which time the seeds and beans will be more tender. Don’t leave them sprouting for more than a week as they start to deteriorate then. Thoroughly rinse the sproutings twice a day (still in their tray) and drain by slightly tipping the tray for the water to run out and avoid handling the sproutings as this may leave bacteria on the food and lead to mildew in which case you must throw the whole batch away for health safety reasons. Rinse thoroughly before consuming? Don’t use more seeds than enough to cover the tray base plus a little bit more. If your house is cold they may take just a little longer to start sprouting.I suggest you wash the trays in tepid water and dishwashing detergent, as hot water will distort the plastic trays and they may become difficult to seat evenly in the trays in the base and second layer. I'm not disappointed at all. It looked smaller than I'd imagined, but it's actually a great size for growing a few handfuls of sprouts at a time.There is a base layer for water collection, two sprouting tiers and a top lid. It's easy to separate when rinsing the sprouts twice daily. Then you pour in the clean water over the perforated lid and it trickles down through the sprouting tiers.I disagree with some reviewers who state it isn't sturdy enough.
