The 3/16" grid is heavy enough to see but not so overwhelming that it's distracting when writing. The inside of the front cover has a place for your National Park Passport Stamp and the back has a handy 5" scale as well as some history of the park. The beautiful illustration on the front cover (see the attached photo) is the Zion Narrows on the Virgin River, a place I have been to a few times and is a must see for all. The series A pack also includes Yosemite and Acadia National Parks and the additional Field Notes in the series cover many of the most iconic parks in the nation. I admit the park series is what spurred me to buy these but now that I see them in person they really are made well and entirely USA made. The area around the binding shows some wear and the front/back covers have some crinkling marks, but it is still very sound and has held up wonderfully! **Q: Are these pages water resistant like Rite in the Rain brand products?** A: The "Kraft" books are regular paper and not water resistant.
