It opens up and works ok. It mostly sat in the garage unused. I was surprised when one of the poles had broken after only using it 5 times. I contacted the manufacturer and they said they could nothing because it was after the 1 year warranty. They also do not have any repair service available.So we are out of luck with a useless shelter after only 5 uses. I definitely would not buy again. The company does not stand behind their product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Any idiot can stand in the sun *by A***H on Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2014* Far better than an oversized beach umbrella but not near the hassle to lug of a 10x10 sunshade. If you intend to use chairs your only able to fit two legless under shelter, they too are lighter perfect for a beach trip. Quality, its sure to last a season with reasonable care in set up and take down, its not heirloom quality at this price and your not going to be handing it down to appreciative relatives after a season or two. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for 1 person at the beach *by P***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2014* I used this for a recent vacation where I was going to send several days at the beach and I sunburn easily. I was very happy with this shelter. I didn't use the sand pockets but I did stake down the shelter and the shelter stayed in place on a VERY windy day.I think this is perfect for a baby/toddler beach play area or for 1 adult. I was able to fit my Tommy Bahama beach chair, my beach bag & cooler in the tent with not issues. If your looking for something that will be comfortable for 2 adults & beach chairs I recommend getting a larger size especially if you want to be completely shaded. My legs stuck out while seated in the chair.I was able to open and stake down the shelter within 5 minutes by myself. I'd say 1-2 minutes to set it up and 2-3 minutes to stake it down.I do recommend opening it up at home before trying to open it at the beach. This way you'll know how much strength is needed to pull the strings to get the shelter to pop open.I only gave it 4 stars because:I wish mesh windows had a covering like other modelsI wish the bottom of the shelter extended further out like other modelsI wish it was a little bigger.I live by a beach and plan on having many more beach days using this shelter.
