The machine is of course very fast and powerful (see the technical specs for those details). I use it mainly for creating 3D animations and video games in Blender and Unity, and it runs very smoothly and builds products fast. I also play games such as Hitman 2 and The Witcher 3, although I tend to tone down the texturing and other non-core graphics because a bit of lag can occur (this might be due to background processes because even these intense games run best after a fresh restart).The OS is Windows 10, and I'd recommend getting McAfee Livesafe (ie Firewall, virus scanner/cleaner, and app updater) although since McAfee has never found a virus on my system after a couple of months of intense use, both on and offline, you could argue that you don't really need it. Windows 10 does have decent builtin firewalls and defenders too, to be fair to Microsoft.You can assign 5 keys to a "macro", which for 95% of people just means a sqeuence of keystrokes, such as [\, n] or [WindowsKey, p, o, w, e, r, s, h, Enter]. This is useful for coding (eg common code snippets) or for games (eg common combinations).You can also change the colours of the neon lights around your keyboard, the left and right base lights, and the monitor side lights. You can even config the speed of glowing effects, if you so wish. This is a cool feature, although the novelty probably wears off after a while and you just stick to a kind of alien-green theme with pink highlights. I haven't regretted it and I wont be looking back to my old Core i7 3630qm laptop. This boots my old laptop out of the window and then some.For those looking for portability, this probably isnt for you. Why?....this laptop is designed from the outset to be an out and out gaming laptop. It's also very heavy. i do take mine out with me to family's homes but you will know about it. Also, make sure you insure your purchase too.I ran a benchmark on a driving simulator called Assetto Corsa, and the laptop ran the game at a amazing average of 222 Frames Per Second (abbrivated as FPS). WOW!.When you recieve the laptop you really do have a feel of quality, In time to come i wont be buying another brand of laptop as this blows the rest away. The keyboard is precise and has great feedback.The screen is exellent and doesn't suffer from reflection when the sun is on the screen. I would reccomend a laptop stand. (the laptop stand i'm using has 5 Fans and even under 100% load still keeps the laptop nice and cool.I love the fan system built into the laptop, It has 6 vents to get rid of the hot air away from the main componants, this is vital for longevity. You would need to keep these vents clear at all times for optimal cooling. It enters Thermal Threshold and you need to cut the processor permformance in order to not overheat it. For nearly Β£3000 it's definitely not worth the money.
